Volume 3 (also called Alien Intervention) saw
only two songs featuring Steve Richards, with major contributions
by Nick Wilson-Smith, Lee Jefferies and James Hunt. This was
the first album to feature a cover song (Gary Numan's Cars),
and also used the song writing talents of Donna Waterman (now
Statham).
The feature track is a four-part instrumental called Alien
Intervention, which was greatly inspired by the work of Jean
Michel Jarre.
Highlights of the album have to include French Cafe, The Particles
Song featuring The Particles backing group (James Hunt, Lee Jefferies,
and Nick Wilson-Smith), and Lay With Me. Ego Trip and Don't You
Know, which were collaborations with other musicians, are also
significant.
Volume 3 showed early experimentation with guitar, both acoustic
and amplified, which was to evolve and flourish into the Excalibur
album. |
