~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE CYBER-WEDDING INVITATION AND NEWSLETTER ~~~~~~~~~
No. 1 - 21st September 1996
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AN INVITATION
TO THE VIRTUAL MARRIAGE OF
Andrew Hunt
of Wellington, Somerset, England.
& Lisa Grosso
of West Palm Beach, Florida, USA.
on
Friday November 1st
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi! You're receving this invitation because you are either a friend
of Andy or Lisa, or you have signed the virtual guestbook. If you
havn't visited the home page (http://www.u-net.com/~andyhunt/),
please do. It has all the details of how we met, and includes
reproductions of the articles of the many newpapers we have appeared
in in our respective countries.
This message will be the first of several, and is being sent to all
of our on-line family, friends and aquaintances, to keep you informed
of up to date details about the plans for the virtual blessing and
wedding on Friday November 1st.
WHAT WE HAVE IN MIND SO FAR...
The day begins with a 'real' wedding, at the Register Office in
Taunton, Somerset, England. Those of you invited to this part of the
wedding will have received, or will soon be receiving, 'snail-mail'
invitations which gives details of the time and place.
Following the Register Office wedding, there will be an evening
reception at Taunton Cyber, a cyber cafe in the centre of Taunton,
where many more guests will be able to attend IRL. Invitations to the
cyber cafe will be sent out separately from this message. The
reception is more than just a reception, for it will also be the
venue for the Internet blessing and further Cyber-Wedding we have
planned.
For all of you that cannot attend the reception in person, you have
the opportunity to watch a virtual blessing and further marriage
ceremony via the Internet.
We are planning to hold both of these ceremonies on Internet Relay
Chat. We have yet to finalise the Server Network that we will be
using (i.e. Efnet, Dalnet or Undernet), and the following times
quoted may be subject to change. We will be keeping you up to date
with the details as they emerge.
The proposed channel name is #cyberwedding, but this too may be
subject to change. We are possibly considering making this a 'hidden'
channel. This merely means that it will not appear on a normal
channel listing. This should help reserve the channel for those
specifically invited, although we don't mind any 'gate-crashers'
provided they are good!
Times quoted are GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)
8.00pm
A Church Of England blessing conducted by the Rev. Peter Murphy from
Lyndhurst, Hants, England.
11.00pm A Cyber-Marriage conducted by the Rev. Mike Bugal of the
Universal Life Church, from Seattle, Washington, USA.
During these ceremonies we will be each sitting at our own
terminals; in wedding attire; and a large image of the proceedings
from the computer screen will be projected on the main wall of the
cyber cafe for all those in attendance to see.
In between these ceremonies, the guests at the cyber cafe will be
using the numerous terminals there to log in and chat with you - the
virtual guests around the globe.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you intend log in to watch the ceremonies and join in with our
virtual party, we would appreciate it if you would return the
completed section of this message below, which details the nickname
you intend to use when you log on, and of course your real name so
we know who you really are.
We have a virtual usher, Robert Nash (nickname Anskia), who will be
assisting with the on-line proceedings, and if he has your details,
your entrance can be officially announced, so that all those present
can see who you are.
