Hi all,

It's time to give you the latest details regarding our
cyber-wedding. We've been busy building a virtual church during
the last week, and we also want to tell you about more TV publicity
we've been involved with.

IRC WEDDING DETAILS

We've been in communication with both Peter Murphy and Mike Bugal
with regards to details regarding the IRC blessing and wedding.

We've supplied some of the words we'd like to use in the blessing
with Peter. We are still passing ideas backwards and forwards, but
we are aiming to make the blessing as interactive as possible, so
that everyone has something to say during the service.

We're still writing the wording for the on-line wedding, but Mike
has sent over by e-mail an example of the wedding certificate which
he will also send over after the wedding on the day. The idea is that
we will print out the certificate, sign it, re-scan it, then return
it to Mike over the Net. This should officially seal our on-line
union.

VIRTUAL CHURCH ON ALPHAWORLD

Many of you may not have heard of AlphaWorld, or Active Worlds as
the software is now called.

AlphaWorld is a virtual on-line world, represented by graphics on
screen. As with many of these 3D worlds, the people visiting are
represented by 'avatars' - animated characters which move around in
their surroundings, each one representing the person who is running
the program.

AlphaWorld is different, in the sense that it also allows those
people who visit to not only 'exist' within this virtual world, but
also to be able to contribute to it. This contribution takes the form
of 'building'. All of the buildings (houses, shops, offices,
castles, etc..) have been created by people who have visited there.
Over the last 18 months, a whole society has built up on AlphaWorld.
There are cities, towns, small villages, parks, arenas, theatres,
shopping malls, the list is endless. There are more than 100,000
registered citizens.

Our small part in this is a village which contains several houses, a
park, a decorative garden, a public house, a post office, and now a
small church. The church will be a visual aspect of the on-line
wedding. The AlphaWorld software is specific to fairly high powered
PCs (16mb Pentium 100, preferably running Windows 95), so we are not
going to make it a major part of the on-line ceremony. However, we
invite all of you who have the necessary hardware, or are interested
in obtaining the software, to pay a visit and take a look around.

The AlphaWorld (Active worlds) software is available at
http://www.worlds.net (Note: now at http://www.activeworlds.com)

You can find descriptions of our AlphaWorld properties, and the
locations, on our home page (http://www.u-net.com/~andyhunt/).

The main locations are:-

Our country cottage is at 60s 220e
The church is at 62s 239e
All other properties are between these two locations.

NOTE: For those of you who are going to visit AlphaWorld for the
first time, we ask you to be patient with the software. The initial
visit requires the downloading of a fair amount of data. Subsequent
visits perform better, as building information is stored in a cache.
If you are prepared to be patient, and make allowances for the
groundbreaking way this software lets people interact, we are sure
you will be amazed with what you'll find there.

If you do get to visit, please drop us an e-mail, and let us know
what you think :)

WESTCOUNTRY TV CHAT SHOW

On Thursday October 10th we made a chat show, which was broadcast on
Friday October 11th on local independent television (Westcountry)

The show was hosted by a well-known UK TV presenter, Nick Owen, and
had many other guests, including several music acts, two commedians,
a 70's comedy legend (Reg Varney), an athlete turned presenter
(Suzanne Dando), and a professional footballer (Rodney Marsh).

Our spot lasted for just under 5 minutes, and we were asked about
how we met on IRC and what we thought about each other when we first
met in real life. We each had a laptop computer in front of us, (ours
still has confetti in the key-board!), showing the homepage and the
wedding announcement, and Lisa showed her wedding dress (while Nick
Owen covered Andy's eyes).

All in all it was a successful show and we really enjoyed ourselves
making it. We're hoping to be able to supply a compilation video
featuring all of the publicity we've had, after it's all died down!
It is very likely that Westcountry TV will be at the cybercafe, so
you may be on TV yourself (well, your words may be!) :)

Lisa asked Nick Owen to give her away, which, although he can't be
there in person, he may be able to do virtually.

Finally, we've supplied the form again, so that you can indicate
whether or not you'll be able to make the on-line ceremonies. For
those who've already replied we're sorry you've had to download this
again, but we're still waiting for a lot of responses.
