The 'IRC' Wedding

The Virtual Wedding Vows

The following vows were spoken between Andrew and Lisa during the on-line wedding on Internet Relay Chat (Undernet). The service was conducted by the Rev. Mike Bugal from his home near Seattle, Washington, USA, whilst Andrew and Lisa were in a cyber cafe in Taunton, Somerset, England. The Best Man (Simon Pratt, Simes) and Maid Of Honour (Lee Craine, Lissy) were also at the cyber cafe in Taunton.

I am honored that they have asked me to perform this historical online as well as Trans-Atlantic ceremony for them.

Most of you present, both in England with Andrew (^Cloud9) and Lisa (^Starr_) as well as online from all corners of the world, know the beautiful story behind the meeting of these two people.

How they met online, then IRL (in real life) less than two weeks later, and how they have both comprimised to attain their common goal. The Lord still does work in mysterious ways.

The future is unknown to any of us, yet their love for one another and their trust in the goodness of God's love make possible the act of faith you now make in our midst.

(Address to Couple)

Andrew (^Cloud9) and Lisa (^Starr_) if it is your intention to share with each other all that the years will bring, with your promises bind yourselves to each other as husband and wife.

Andrew (^Cloud9) and Lisa (^Starr_) in presenting yourselves here today, you are performing an act of faith in each other - a faith which should grow, mature, and endure.

If you would have your love set on such faith, not just this moment, but in all the days ahead, then ever cherish the hopes and dreams you now hold.

Resolve that love not be blotted out by the commonplace, nor blurred by the mundane in life. Faults will appear where now there is satisfaction; talents will fade in bleaching experience; wonder will flatten in the rituals of daily living - but devotion, joy and love can remain, as you build them together.

Stand fast in hope and confidence, believing in yourselves and believing in each other. In this spirit you can create a marriage which will radiate to one another and give new hope and strength to all who watch your quest with interest.
