How to install and use your Custom
Logo Font
How to install your font
PC - WINDOWS
Save the attached font file into your windows\fonts directory.
The directory path is normally c:\windows\fonts or c:\WINNT\fonts.
(Save using the same filename that the font has been given, including
the .ttf extension). How you save the attachment will depend
on the email program you are using. If you are using Microsoft
Outlook, right-clicking on the file will allow you to 'save as...'
to the fonts directory.
Saving the font into your fonts folder will normally install
the font without any further action. If you cannot find the font
listed when you open a word processor, the easiest thing is to
re-start you computer and the font will be installed. Alternatively,
you can open Control Panel (Windows) and then open the Fonts
folder. Opening the Fonts folder is usually enough to ensure
that the font is installed.
If you have any problems with installing the font, please
refer to your Windows help files for more information.
MACINTOSH
MacOS X users can use the True Type Font file (fontname.ttf)
as supplied. Open the folder into which you saved your Logo Font
file. Copy the Logo Font file and paste into your Home / Fonts
folder. This will install it and allow you to use it within most
programs that use True Type fonts.
If you are using MacOS 9 or before, drop the font file (fontname.mtt.bin)
onto the Stuffit Expander icon. The font will be reconstituted
and can then be installed on your Mac.
If this is not successful, you can convert the ttf file into
a Mac format font file using a free conversion utility that can
be downloaded from here.
Please follow the instructions in the relevant help files.

How to use your Logo Font
Basic, Single Colour Fonts
Once you have installed your Logo Font, open up your favourite
word processor program and type any of the letters or characters
that your logo has been assigned to. For example, if your logo
is assigned to capital letter 'A', then type this letter in your
document.
Use your cursor to highlight the letter you have just typed
and change the font to your Logo Font. Your logo appears!
You can change the colour and size of your logo character
just as you can with any other font character you would type.
Note: If you want to use a size that is not in the size menu
(e.g. 200 point) then simply type the size you require in the
size box.
If you have purchased several variants of your font, you can
type them consecutively to build up combinations of the images
you have supplied.
Experiment with the size, left and right alignment to position
you logo on the page. For detailed information regarding positioning
of characters on the page, please read your programs relevant
help information.
Multi-Colour Fonts
Using The Supplied Version
The easiest way to use your multi-coloured logo font is to
open up the Microsoft Word document that accompanied your font
and copy and paste the logo into any document you want to use
it in. See below for information on re-sizing your logo.
Manual Insertion
If you unable to open the Word Document, or for some other reason
cannot copy and paste your logo, here is the method for adding
your logo:
As per the instructions above, once you have installed your
font, open up your favourite word processor. The instructions
that were supplied with your font will give details about the
letters and associated colours* that have been assigned to your
font.
*Note: The colour numbers (RGB values) are suggestions only,
based on the colours in electronic or hard copy materials supplied.
It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that colours are
accurately matched to their own company logo standard.
In the example below, the colour logo is constructed using
the letters 'A', 'B' and 'C'.
Letter
'A' is blue (R 1, G 1, B 204)
Letter 'B' is red (R 204, G 13, B 6)
Letter 'C' is yellow (R 254, G 253, B 49).
If you are using Microsoft Office 2000 or a later program
version, you can accurately select the colours using the R G
B (Red, Green, Blue) colour values supplied with your font. Click
on the 'More Colours...' option when selecting the colour of
a character, then click on the 'Custom Tab'. Ensure that the
'RGB' option is selected and type in the colour numbers supplied
with your font. This will ensure that your logo colours are accurately
reproduced.
(Important Note: Earlier versions of Microsoft Office only provide
access to the basic 16-Colour Windows palette).
Having typed the required letters, and changed their colours,
highlight all of the characters and change the font to your Custom
Logo Font. A colour version of your logo will appear!
Changing the size and position of your logo
Provided that any changes you make to size and position affect
all of the characters in your colour logo, you can adjust it
just like a single colour logo font. You may need to use 'Select
all' the make sure that all of the colour layers are changed.
If you have problems re-sizing your logo font, change it back
to standard font (such as 'Arial') to make your changes, then
change it back to your logo font once you are happy with it.
Experiment with the size, left and right alignment to position
you logo on the page. For detailed information regarding positioning
of characters on the page, please read the relevant help information
supplied with the software you are using.
Making your colour logo ITALIC or BOLD
We do not recommend changes your colour logo to italic or bold,
as it is very likely that it will degrade the image by changing
the way that the different colour layers line up with each other.

How to improve the appearance
of your font
On screen
You can also improve the appearance of your Custom Logo Font
on screen in Windows XP by switching on 'Clear Type' if you haven't
done so already. An easy way to do this, and test the clear type
settings, is to go to Microsoft's Clear Type page at http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/1.htm
Alternatively, go to Start > Control Panel > Appearance
& themes > Display > Appearance Effects > Use the
following method to smooth screen fonts - Select 'Clear Type'.
This anti-aliases (smooths the jagged edges) on fonts and can
improve the appearance significantly.

On paper
Your Custom Logo Font will provide the best results when
printed on paper.
Use your highest quality printer settings when printing documents
containing your logo. The Custom Logo Font will allow you to
produce output that may match that of a professional print studio.

Backup Your Font!
In addition to the CD-ROM that we supply, remember to make
a further copy of your logo font. If you make regular backups
(which you should do if you have any data on your hard disk that
you cannot afford to lose) you should ensure that you place a
copy of your font in a directory that will be included in your
backup.
We
recommend that you employ a backup strategy to protect your data
in the event of hard disk failure.
We will only retain your font for a guaranteed 30 days from
the date we produce it (unless you've agreed to your font to
be included in our Examples page).
After that, we will not be able to provide you with a copy of
your font should you lose it .

Using your Custom Logo Font in
e-mail messages
Your Custom Logo Font is most suited to producing printed,
hard copies of documents containing your logo. You can use it
for electronic documentation, but please consider some of the
limitations given below.
Unfortunately, at this moment in time there is no easy way
to 'embed' fonts in e-mail messages. This means that, unless
the recipient of an e-mail containing your logo font does not
already have the font installed on their computer, they will
not see your logo
The easiest way to ensure that the recipient sees your Custom
Logo Font in electronic documents is to attach your document
to the e-mail message as a PDF document or in a Microsoft Word
document (ensuring that the 'embed font' option is selected -
see below for more information).
If you are certain that the recipient already has your font
installed, or has easy access and the technical ability to install
it, you can also use later versions Microsoft Outlook or Outlook
Express to send a message containing your Custom Logo Font. Some
web based e-mail services also support custom fonts, but also
rely on the font to be installed. If your company runs an internal
intranet, provided all users have the font installed on their
individual computers, you logo can be used internally within
e-mail messages.
NOTE: If you are extremely technically minded, please go
to the Morovia
Fontware web site which contains some interesting articles
and links about embedding fonts in web pages and e-mail messages.
Sending your message as a Microsoft Word Document
If you decide to send your message as an attached Word document,
the important thing to remember is to embed your font in the
document.
Note: The method we describe below is for Word 97, but is similar
for later versions of Word.
Open up Microsoft Word, and start a new document.
Before you save your message, ensure that you have selected
the option to embed True Type fonts, as explained below.
Click 'Tools' on the menu, then select 'Options'. Click on
the the 'Save' tab - the screen-shot below shows the dialogue
box you should now see.
To embed your Custom Logo font in the Word document you wish
to send, check the 'Embed True Type Fonts' box (arrowed). To
reduce the file size, be sure to also check the 'Embed characters
in use only' box (arrowed).
Once you have completed creating the document that contains
your logo, save the file and your Custom Logo font will also
be saved within the file.
You can then attach the Word Document (.doc file) to an e-mail
in the same way you would attached any other file to an e-mail
message.

Problems with your font?
If you have any problems with your Custom Logo font, please
contact us and we will see if we
can help you.
Remember, by using our Custom Logo Font creation service,
you are accepting that certain limitations apply when trying
to reproduce images as a font. These limitations are:
- The font quality is completely dependent on the quality of
the images supplied. We will do our best to produce the best
quality font from the materials supplied, but cannot be held
responsible if the font quality is found to be unacceptable due
a poor original source.
- Although the printed output quality of logo fonts is very
high, limitations in the conversion process means that letters
in the logo font may never quite match the original quality of
the font upon which they are based.
- As with any custom font, logo fonts are not generally suitable
for use in e-mail messages as they require the recipient to have
the font already installed on their computer
- The success of colour logo reproduction is dependent on the
complexity of the image, the number of colours, and the presence
of colour gradients. Photographs are particularly unsuitable
for conversion.
- For colour logos, the colour numbers (RGB values) supplied
are suggestions only, based on the colours in electronic or hard
copy materials supplied. It is the customer's responsibility
to ensure that colours are accurately matched to their own company
logo standard.
- True Type Fonts produce superior results when printed at
maximum quality, and should not be judged by their appearance
on screen alone.
- We will attempt to produce and amend fonts to the customer's
full satisfaction, but if such modification results in having
to start the font creation process from scratch, then the customer
will be liable to make a further payment to cover the costs.
